What Kahoot's free plan actually allows now
Kahoot's free plan is called Kahoot! Go, and how many players it allows depends on the kind of account you hold. A K-12 school teacher account allows 40 players in a game. A personal or higher-education account allows 10. Kahoot's own pricing page and its support article do not agree on this — the pricing page's FAQ still refers to a retired plan — so if you are deciding on the basis of a number you read somewhere, check which account type it applied to.
The free plan also limits you to Quiz and True/False questions, with no puzzle, word cloud, type-answer or slider, and no AI features at all. The cheapest paid tier, Bronze, is $3 a month billed annually and raises the cap to 50 players with document import limited to three pages.
None of this makes Kahoot a bad product — it is still the most polished thing in this category. It is simply much smaller for free than the version most teachers remember.
